Acadia closed Timberline Knolls effective February 13, 2025.1 Abuse allegations at the facility date to 2018, when a counselor was accused of sexually assaulting patients and later faced dozens of criminal charges; according to a New York Times investigation, the former counselor later pleaded guilty to sexually abusing patients.234 A 2024 lawsuit alleged a staff member sexually assaulted and raped a patient on multiple occasions.5
